Crowns and Bridges

Crowns

Sometimes doing a normal filling is just not enough to restore the normal form and function of the tooth for the long term. A dental crown becomes the treatment of choice to protect the tooth from further deterioration and to keep the tooth for a long time. It acts as a helmet that protects the tooth against smashing forces.

Indications

After root canal treatment

Back teeth heavily filled with amalgam

A crack in the tooth

To change the shape of the tooth entirely

To change the bite

Worn-down teeth

Broken teeth

Bridges

Do you have a gap in your mouth due to a missing tooth? Does it make you self-conscious because others can see it when you smile? Do you struggle to chew on that side? What if you could get it fixed without a partial denture or implants?

What is a bridge?

A bridge is a traditional way to replace a missing tooth or teeth if the patient is looking for a fixed option over a removable one. It is made up of two crowns, one on either side of the missing tooth, both connected to an artificial tooth, called a pontic, in the middle. These three “teeth” form the “bridge”, which is matched to the colour of your teeth and then cemented into place to provide a long-term fixed solution to your missing tooth problem.
